Eastchester is a town in southern Westchester County, about 20 miles north of Manhattan, incorporating the villages of Bronxville and Tuckahoe and the unincorporated Eastchester hamlet. The town was founded in 1664, making it one of Westchester's oldest, and that history shows in the housing stock: while the majority of single-family homes were built during the 1950s post-war suburban expansion, there are substantial numbers of pre-war Georgians, Tudors, and colonials throughout the town's tree-lined residential streets, particularly in the Bronxville and Crestwood neighborhoods. Cape Cods, split-levels, and colonials from the 1940s through 1960s fill out the rest. Eastchester's density is notably higher than the northern Westchester towns we serve, with smaller lots and closely spaced homes that make proper drainage routing and exterior maintenance especially important.
Meridian Contracting has served Eastchester and the surrounding lower Westchester area for more than 25 years. We're a family-owned business based in Yonkers — right next door — and we're familiar with the specific maintenance demands of Eastchester's postwar and pre-war housing stock, where aging original roofing systems, deteriorating chimney mortar on 70-100 year old homes, and undersized original gutter installations now call for proper attention.

Eastchester’s housing density is higher than in most northern Westchester communities we serve, with smaller lot sizes and homes closer together on established residential streets. That density means drainage routing needs to be precise — downspouts that dump water too close to a property line or neighbor’s foundation cause problems faster than on a more spacious lot. It also means that exterior repairs are often visible from neighboring properties, which makes color-matching and clean finish work more important than in rural settings.
The town’s housing stock spans a wide age range: pre-war Georgians and Tudors built in the 1920s and 1930s throughout the Bronxville and Crestwood areas, and the larger wave of cape cods, colonials, and split-levels built during the post-war 1950s expansion that now make up the bulk of Eastchester’s single-family homes. The pre-war homes in particular often have chimneys, flashing, and roofing systems approaching or past 80-100 years of service, while the 1950s homes are hitting their second-replacement cycle on roofing and original siding.
